Centuries ago, a band of explorers ventured into the lush, untamed hills of St. Elizabeth. But when they finally reached the summit—where Mar-A-Montana now stands—something miraculous happened. The harshness of their climb dissolved as they gazed at the panoramic beauty below: the sea glittering like a sapphire, the misty mountains standing guard, and the endless sky stretching like a promise. One man sank to his knees, not in exhaustion, but in awe, and declared in rich Jamaican Patois, "Dis Hill dun man…but look wah we find!” (translation: “This hill has worn us out…but look what we’ve found!”). Here, on this sacred peak, they found rest. The struggles of the climb faded as the land cradled them, whispering that some journeys are meant to end in peace. From that day, the hill bore the name Dunder Hill—a tribute to the effort it demanded and the serenity it gifted.
